The Inn

Long ago, so goes the story,
He left behind his robes of glory
And came to earth to dwell among us;
The Word made flesh, God's only son was
Born and laid inside a manger
We knew Him not,
This homeless stranger
Though it was the light He gave us;
Born to die that He might save us
The night confines us,
Hope is the spark
That lights a candle
Shining here in the dark
Stay holy Child
Please don't depart
We will make room here
In the Inn of our hearts
A star shined over Bethlehem,
In the heavens angels sang
Wisemen came and bowed before Him
Shepherds worshipped and adored Him
Lord of lords and King of kings,
We come to you,
No gifts to bring
All we can offer now is this:
Our wayward souls, our brokenness
The night confines us,
Hope is the spark
That lights a candle
Shining here in the dark
Stay holy Child
Please don't depart
We will make room here
In the Inn of our hearts
Stay holy Child
Please don't depart
We will make room here
In the Inn of our hearts
