Larry Norman did a lot for Christian Rock in the early 70s.
But, he was not the first. His first album and Randy Stonehills
first albums were both paid for by Pat Boone, if I remember the
story. In fact I think part of it is told on the One Night In 20 Years
video.

There were Christian Rock bands putting out records before '71
though.

This is interesting. Proceed with the history lesson.... Big Grin

Here's one..

1960's Christian "beat group" from England called
the Pilgrims. Never heard them myself, but there were
quite a few groups like that. They just weren't called
"Christian groups."

I was pretty young, but I remember seeing him around the time Second Chapter was touring...

Of course those concerts way back when is what drove me to snorting DP

Concrete Rubber Band (60s)

Earthen Vessel (60s)

Jonathan and Charles (60s)

(We used to have this record... sort of folk/rock
Simon and Garfunkle sound)

Last Call of Shiloh (60s)

Mylon (1970)

There were others...

This book is full of a bunch... even some going
back to the 50's. Gospel Rox Music Collectors Guide

I own the Gospel Rox Music Collector's Guide. It was done by Claude Crain. He only printed 100 books. It is absolutely great! We used to keep in touch about 10-11 years ago when he put it out. I gave him a quote to try and help him sell it for a bigger deal. It never worked out for him. Too bad.

Now you can get it in computer form from him.

Is this any better?

Well, maybe not. Notice they didn't rate MBD that highly. Their ears must've been too full of crap by that time to give it a decent listen. Mad

They compared it to DFBB, how much bettter can you rate a DA record? Cool
