So for those of us who are not getting to a concert, as 1000miles of air travel is too much, can you tell us?

i suppose this is payback for all the times we got to see them and they didn't touch the west coast. Crying have fun joey and theo! and yeah, as capn pedant says, let us know what the surprise is. there is no way we can make it to this show.

Lost Dogs Christmas Tour video and pics

Here's some videos and pics I took when they played at Highway Community in Palo Alto, CA eariler today (Dec 10). Quality is decent, it was taken on my Canon 630, so it isn't pro shot by any means, but it works!

I hope you enjoy them,

jason

WOW! Thanks jason!

I was struck by conflicting emotions and thoughts as I watched these clips. (We just watched Via Chicago DVD 1 and 2 yesterday afternoon and evening. We were also promoters for a show last summer. We have seen them live I think 5 times total now.) Here's my rambling reactions and thoughts:

1. I thought they were kinda *sad* while watching "Here Comes Santa Claus + Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer". Not that the performance was bad, but that they have so much other better material that could have been performed. I'll chalk that up to my not being there and seeing the whole show in context. Frown

2. Fruitcake From Hell. What a great song and a decent performance of it. Thanks to Jeffrey K from Lo-Fidelity for doing a limited re-release of Terry's "Songs for the Day After Christmas". It should be included on a mainstream CD - perhaps if/when Terry does another solo CD (similar to Avocado Faultline), or maybe if the Dogs record a Christmas CD (or DVD?!). Big Grin

3. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. WOW! I like Derri's voice, but he is generally not my favorite Dog. However, I thought his voice was perfect for that song. In fact, I cannot think of any other version by anyone else that I like better. I don't even like that particular Christmas song all that great. (Of course, I am not a big "Christmas music" type of person, but still ...). I'll have to put that on repeat. Pleased Cool

4. I suppose the total concert experience was really great. I think the whole "play" thing reflects on Terry's penchant for that type of performance, and I would like to see more of it on some level. However, if I was promoting a show I think I would still rather have more of a "standard" show. I'm just not quite sure what to think exactly overall, but I would be quick to order even a poor quality DVD if the boys wanted to approve somebody putting one out. Frown Happy If they thought it was what they were supposed to do, then I certainly can't question that. Smile

5. Guitars. It looked like Terry was playing a cut-away Taylor and Derry had Terry's jumbo Guild, which sorta made Derry look like a dwarf. Maybe that was intentional? Big Grin I would guess perhaps there were some "normal" guitar problems and that was what they worked out with what equipment was available? Confused

ditto on the WOW!

a few comments on mf's comments above:
1. mf, you must've missed derri laughing at terry and mike as mike spoke the words to be sung just before terry actually sang those exact words. nothing sad there! Big Grin

3. ditto, cept derri is my favorite dog! his voice is perfect for this song and i could just about go to sleep listening to him sing that. Pleased Cool Happy

5. that guitar derri was playing is huge! Big Grin

overall, great show and nice clips, with one exception: the "big black box" in front of derri (his music stand) was kinda distracting ~ well, it was to me anyway, but i am a big derri fan, so what do i know? Big Grin thanks again jason! Pleased Cool
