  just thinkin' out loud-

It occured to me after remembering a couple of long ago posts from people wondering if we might consider "toning" down a bit some of (many of?) our posts

that those of us who see Daniel Amos and this board as our own

might be doing so at the expense and exclusion of people with a more PG way of viewing things (?)

my point:
maybe some of the band members kids and other family (parents?) might want to visit their Dad's (son's?) band's message board but can't (or won't) because of the "tone" of many (most?) of the threads...?

in other words,
would we consider scratching the current threads and history and starting with a clean slate in more of a family oriented vain?

because
except for the few brave lasses it's become (always was?) mostly a "guys" board with a lot of "potty" humor...

  I've asked

Good point. I don't know if we're turning anyone off or not; I hope I personally am not.

I will say I think the Audioris have done a good job of moderating the worst of it. It helps to put some of that stuff in it's own category, although it's not always followed.

Thanks TM

"What kind of friend would tell you lies to spare you from the bitter truth?" Is the DAMB a bitter truth at times?

Suffer the little one to come unto the DAMB without being assaulted by visions of skid marks and transgendered drunks? None of us want the little fishes to become sullied.

In my brief time, i have probably been one of the bigger offenders. Is all such "potty stuff" to be limited to the DUMP. Should the dump have a PG 13 rating?
i do think that our more contentious wrangling is more harmful to a little fishie than a skid mark though.

You are a good man, TM. Big Grin i will need to think more on this. Perhaps the Lord will blast me during worship today...

  not forgetting

my own contributions to the locker room, and they've been many

I guess I'm wonderin' is the board better for our transparency (certainly we need to be open about our issues) or should we be able to visit here without feeling like we need a bath afterwards-

-

I guess it's all sounding a bit codependent/controlling so let the chips fall where they may but I'm remembering the line from Spidey , "With great power comes great responcibility".

Maybe so, but we have Gamgee to help with corrections.

I, for one, like a place where transparency can shine through, but I agree with you TM. If we are running people off or keeping children from visiting, let's do all we can to make it a pool of clean reflection.

It's a nice idea...

but it works both ways, I don't want to run people off because we are just like any other "Christian" message board that has such tight restrictions where people get all upset if you say poop or suck. And what about some of the serious topics we've talked about like the Internet Porn one. Do we want to avoid this stuff? Maybe this is the only place some feel that they can talk about these off topics without being censored to death. I don't think we want an R rated board, but maybe somewhere between PG and PG13?

As it is my 13 year old boy reads the board once in a while and there have only been a few things that I would not want him to read (or look at). And I would let my 9 year old read 70% of this stuff. But others may not let their kids read anything here... we all have a different idea of what’s offensive and what's not.

I would think that if a band member was concerned about this message board that they would tell the Townsends and they would tell us. I agree that some things get out of hand, but let's not go overboard the other way.

Thanks TM, for the reminder to keep it clean.Smile I'm sure just bringing up the issue will help us all to tone it down.

agreed, so maybe there could be a disclaimer of some sort?

  i'M NOT LILLY WHITE

in this regard either-
so perhaps even keeping in mind
that EVERYONE can read anything you post-
if it gets heated-you may want to one on one with a particular
person or issue..
tm- you did bring up a good point-and BD also-
there should be some middle ground.

  Perhaps the wisest thing....

....if we can all honor/live with it.... is to declare certain sectors of the board, uh, "poopy-free zones".... I know that was tried informally, but I'm not sure how well it's held up....
