  Bruce Cockburn's Site

What the fu** happened to Bruce Cockburn's website. All I know is this, if I had a rocket launcher, some son-of-a-french would die.

I dunno.. some wacko stole the domain name I guess. Happens a lot these days. They'll probably charge Bruce a few hundred thousand to buy it back.. lousy greedy scammers with no conscience. They probably voted for Perot.

Us Cockburn fans will have to go here I guess, until it can be returned to its rightful owner.

To tell you the honest truth, the only song I've heard by the dude is Rocket Launcher, and I like that one. Somebody posted the lyrics on the Choir mb on Sept 11th, and I went and downloaded the song... Good stuff. I guess I just always thought of Bruce Springsteen when I heard his name, or maybe a porno star.... Shocked Shocked Shocked

Although I don't own any of Cockburn's recordings yet, he is an artist I respect. In U2's song God Part II they quote a lyric of his 'I'm gonna kick the darkness till it bleeds daylight'. Bruce is considered to be the Canadian version of Bob Dylan as an influential folk artist. I'm most familiar with his songs from 'Dancing in the Dragon's Jaw'(I hope I got that right). Wonderful music and lyrics.

I'd highly recommend some of his recent releases... "Nothing But A Burning light", "Dart to the Heart", "The Charity of Night" & "Breakfast in New Orleans..." - especially if you're a fan of the Lost Dogs.

(Many of his earlier records are good too, but might be harder for a new fan to enjoy).

  Bruce Cockburn's website

Greetings,

Yeah, it was funny, I typed in www.brucecockburn.com the other week because I had a hunch it was his website. Instead it was a very prolife website. I'm kind of glad to see it, because Bruce Cockburn is outspoken pro-choice, which is a very contradictory stand to his Christian beliefs. Maybe God's trying to send him a wake-up message.

By the way, like some of Bruce Cockburn's lyrics, some of the langauge on this thread seems a little unbecoming of Christianity. Maybe, for the glory of God, we can tone it down a little.

For those interested in Cockburn, I would say that the projects "Dart to the Heart" and "Dancing In the Dragon's Jaw", especially the latter, are great places to start.

Take care,
Jim (aka Terry's Conscience)

Jim,
Even though "choice" isn't alway the right thing, it is what God has allowed all of us to make in our lives. I remember reading somewhere that Mr. Cockburn states that he is not in favor of abortion, but he is in favor of honoring choice. Now with choice often comes consequence. That is for an entirely different thread though.
You stated:

I have read this thread entirely through. I do not see any language unbecoming to the glory of God. However, humanness and judgementalness do have a way of creeping into word plays. I had an old mentor once that stated, "Saying godnada does not dishonor the name of God. Not living out the fruits of the Spirit, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, etc., that's what dishonors His name." Just my lost thoughts.

Heresy! Apostacy! Dr. Rich, you and LK-9 are a disgrace to this board. And I'll throw in that Woggy and Joey T. too. The only burn you better worry about in your life is this, "TURN OR BURN."
