  Sacred Cows Responses

Has anyone read quotes or heard responses from any of the distinguished artists who were paid tribute to on Sacred Cows and what they thought of the Eddies' takes on their songs?

the Tuxedo Clad Megastar said that Satan, Bite the Dust was better than his version. He said that he loves Terry and the boys and that they make him look like grey poop'on. Okay, maybe not.

Speaking of Sacred Cows. I have a coupla questions for you folks.

I don't listen to CCM music. Never have. Never will.

So, what I'm curious about is: "Will I get it?"

If I buy myself a copy of Sacred Cows, will it be very meaningful to me? There is a pretty high chance that I won't have heard any of the songs on there ever before. So would it even be worthy my while?

(And I'm certainly not going to lower myself to the level of actually buyin that music just so I can understand the Eddies unique spin on them...)

And speaking of Sacred Cows - has anybody noticed that there is a Carmen on Uncle Stonehill's latest Hat?

What's up with that?

And what's Carmen's last name anyway: Ministries? Mianta? I can't find his wretched last name at his web site. Is it just Carmen Carmen. Or is Carmen his last name?

(Or is it Clinton? Is he secretly Bill Clinton's brother and doesn't want anybody to know about it?)

Lastly - does he live in San Diego?

This cows thing really has me chewing my cud.

Cheers!
Gus

I'm sure you've heard Amy Grunts ''Baby Baby''
The Eddies do a superb job of re-creating the true essence of this song.

Of course ''Sthatan Bithe The Dusth" would be worth the price alone.

Another gem includes Spot in a lead vocal. He does a nice job on ''In My Fathers House''. Even if you don't know the song, Spot just has a way of making it his own.

''i luv crap music''
Camarillo is the king of lounge!

As for the rest of the CD, you may not get it. But then again you might. Does that help at all. No

And on the C*rm*n thing.....his parents disowned him as a child, kind of like Joe Dirt, only he has no last name.

I haven't heard some of the songs on there, but there still pretty funny, in a surreal, Pythonic sort of way. But the song are of course funnier if you've heard the real thing.
As for Carman's last name, I thought it was Miranda. Wink

  Ask the Doctor...

"Dr. Love" heard a comment once from our vowel-less CCM friend. In fact, I think I'll mangle the name once more:
CBaby rmEvil n

What can I say? D&K use the J-word, I use the C-word.

Terry once said that, Alex MacDougall sat behind
one of Degarmo and Key (can't remember which one right now)
at the Doves or someplace and told him that the
Eddies covered "I Use the J Word"...
His response was "I knew we shouldn't of recorded that song."

As silly and bad as the recordings are, I've always
seen them as a parody not only of the songs.. but the
cheesyness, shallowness, and gimicky CCM market stuff.
I mean, "God made convertables" ...please.
"God Good - Devil Bad" ...hmmm deep.

I realize some of them are meant to be just fun songs,
but the CCM market really pushes this type of stuff
and ignores anything with much thought.

Sacred Cows could use another slaughtering.
If the Eddies were atttempting to kill off their careers again, what songs would be a hoot to hear them play?Smile )

The Eddies are great. If you are unfamiliar with them, stop everything that you are doing and go to the DA Webstore and purchase Zoom Daddy. This is my favorite recording of the 90s period. It has great tunes and the best lyrics ever.

Cool

Jason's words are very thought provoking. What kind of image then do we give off to those outside the Christian marketing word? Would "I Use the J Word" convince anyone of anything? The CCM world has dug its own grave.

Yeah, I don't like CCM. It has motivated me to not listen to the "Christian" radio station, or mainstream Christian stuff. The only Christian bands I listen to right now are DA and the Eddies.

Let's see...

The Devil is Bad- The W's (Don't you get it?)
Barlow Girls- Superchick (the worst CCM band around)
There's No Life Away From You- The Supertones (I like the Supertones, but this song is just plain obnoxious)
Something by Zoegirl (or some such group)
Something by one of the Christian boy bands

I really need to read these threads better. what you say is very true... I think D&K try to be clever... I kind of recall wearing a D&K Tee-Shirt that said "Boycott Hell" which seemed kind of cool and the time Confused

but yes it all seems to be music for christian kids who want to be as shallow as their "worldly" friends Pleased
