The Swirling Eddies Concert        I am not sure if Lucy or John Foxe posted on this yet, but here is my post on the show. I will start out by saying DA was awesome... Funny I always was amused by "New Car" but to hear it live is too really get the vibe of it. All the VH and DG songs were great fun to hear. Here is the set list for the eddies follwed by note that Steve Hindalong put by the songs to help him remeber how they go... thanks for the set list Steve!!!! ) ) The Eddies were played very funky all songs had this groovey-jammed out extra long song going on. They jammed out every song and they just had fun (very much a "Blonde on Blonde" vibe to it if that makes sense... i.e. the band had to fly by the seat of TST pants. ) Driving in England. (Outdoor Elvis was written down but crossed out) Let's Spin. Hello (Jimmy Buffet) Tiny Town (easy beat/Chris Isaak) Pulpit Master (fast Surf beat/thrashing about) -the funny thing about this song is it sounded a whole lot less like a "novelty" song, and it had a long weird solo by Mike Roe and than TST started to sing "I know what I want... I know what I need..." went into "New Car" for a bit before returning to the song. he also sang about ten or 12 times "were the porno people... were the pornoooooooo people... were the sweaty porno people... the sweaty pooooornooooooo people" you get the idea... very funny ) Strange Days (Pink Floyd/ride beat) Billy Grahm (tacet/colors?) Potential (Doo Da Wop/ Prince/ 80's disco rock/Don Henly) Arthur Fardy's Yodeling Party -when Rob Watson did his little "jig" I was laughing so hard I thought I could have hurt myself ) Don't Hate yourself -sang "love your neigbor as you love yourself" as well. The Wanderer -he closed with the odd polka song about the guy with the napsack on his back... very funny speech during song about the audience being so excited to see the eddies that we were distracted from out faith... and now we saw the truth that "we suck, and so I leave you with this..." and started singing the polka again... he did this many times. and even though the stage manager was showing signs that said "10 minutes and 5 minutes" which really sucked the eddies went at least 10 or 15 minutes over (or so it seemed, and of course it was not enough.) after the show Jonnny and I stalked TST to his car just to thank him for the wonderful show. I have so much graditude for being able to see the eddies. although TST seemed wore out beat tired he was very nice and even wished me a happy birthday when I told him seeing him perform was my present. Steve Hindalong and Mike Roe were also very kind and generous with their time. (thanks again for the autogrph mike, and set list Steve!) I enjoyed meeting the Townsends (Is it just me or does Jason seem like he knows some dirty secret about everyone ) I bought Spittle and Phelgm (love it) WEWH (love it) and little big (also awesome) a wonderful day and a great way to spend the day after my birthday ) The Eddies may have been the best concert I have ever seen. So why don't the Eddies tour? Why don't they do another album? Zoom Daddy was a GREAT album. (I will try my best to be there ) ) I have to say thinking it over it is the best concert I have ever been to. it had it all, balls to the wall rock & roll, TST was going full out (even playing lead) and music wise it just blew me away. a ten out of ten. the standard for a rock concert. I have been thinking about this concert non-stop and grinning at nobody. I am so grateful to have been there.
