| Question About Mr. B's Dream |

I am a new DA fan. I have been listening to the Lost Dogs for years, but just yesterday got Mr. B's Dream. I have a question about it. Was the intent of the album to be 2 separate projects that were packaged together and released at the same time? (Kinda like if Bruce Springsteen had packaged Lucky Town and Human Touch together) Or was it intended to be one complete project that happens to be on 2 discs? (like Smashing Pumpkin's Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness)
Just wondering. Thanks.

I think it's the same mood it's just that the 1st disc is the Buechner's concept thing and then on the second disc it's more of just a collection of songs that were in the same mood and written at the same time but for one reason or another fit the Buechner concept so they called it And So It Goes.
Kate Bush had a similar thig in 1985 with the release of Hounds Of Love.
It wasn't a double disc but when it first came out on vinyl the first sidr was Hounds of Love and the second side was dubbed the Seventh Wave or somehing, correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Yeah I think they just went nuts and recorded a bunch of songs. The first time we heard it was in Nashville GMA week Tim played some of it for us and the songs were all in a different order. At that point it seemed more like all the softer songs were on one disc and all the harder ones were on the other, kind of like the Beatles White Album. That was right after it was recorded I think. So they were probably just in the order in which they were taped off? No idea.
But I think they all said they just went nuts because it had been so long that they worked together.

Maybe that bodes well for the next one since its approaching that time gap again............................

lets hope so..
What I like so - is not like an A recording and then a B side recording..
the songs could easily have appeared on each others disc..
though for some reason I see the A recording as being somewhat complete in itself (AS Eddie mentioned..)
Perhaps its the interlude of "Beuchners Dream"..that recaps iteself when "Buechner wakes up" before the closing track "Joel"
It rather completes one thought ..
does that make sense???

I do see disc one as a series of illustrations leading to a unified, if not easily summarized, point. The only song from disc 2 I could see moving to disc 1 would be "Pregnant Pause." But it's maybe a bit oblique even for that.
I think having "Joel" after then end of Mr. Buechner's Dream is brilliant placement, an invitation for all to dream dreams.
