NOPE..
somethings are sacred- and the Farm Beetles is probably so sacriligeous- it could only be discussed in the dump.
(I've yet to hear it)

OK, I cheated and listened to it all day yesterday and it's on right now. It is so so good and funny. I crack up everytime I hear them sing "you may think I'm a dreamer (you may think he's a dreamer)" and btw cricket...the swirling mellow songs at the beginning are ultra coooool

right now my love for Terrys music is exactly equal to my love for the 4 (of which there are only two)
until the scale tips- I feel the need to abstain for conscience sake.

Don't tell me what you have a grip on! |
We had a skip level meeting with my Boss' boss yesterday. In anticipation of the meeting he sent his first email:
I've been asked the purpose of this meeting.
Feel free to bring up any topic you want to and be totally open and honest.
How things are going from your perspective
Your workload (or overload)
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
Grip about me
Concerns
Priorities
Future of the group
Basically anything that is not obscene, fattening, or not pertinent to our group
He quickly sent a second email:
You can also discuss gripes about me

Which is odd because it's one of my favorite DA songs, but it sticks out hard on this set. Bibleland is as close as the band ever came to God-honest punk rock. Hard, loud, aggressive, angry, not fussy. Broken Ladders, while being a poetic, ballad-like entrypoint, leaves the listener dangling over the audio assault to come.
Next?

That's one of the reasons I like it. It does get you "dangling" and then POW! DA pushes you right over the edge when you least expected it.
I love just about every song on this one, it's a great CD to put on in the car and sing along with at full volume.
Favs have to be:
Out in the Cold
Broken Ladders...
Low Crawls....
"Love and understanding, right now
Every freak demanding, right now
Whining and commanding, right now
right now, right now..."
"The Word becomes the flesh
My life becomes your death
But you'll be coming 'round the mountain soon"
There may not be a bad song in the bunch except maybe She's Working Here...

OK Dennis, but you must have the "right atmosphere" first. You must drink at least 4 of those mugs of yours, then listen to the CD, then type your thoughts.
Perhaps then you'll liken the Farm Beetles to Sgt. Pepper's or Dark Side Of The Moon.

I first heard BL about 3 years ago- and went "Whoa- this is out from left field"
Love the opening and and closing tunes- they seem to let you know that they haven't fallen off a clff, just brought you to the edge.
And please dont throw rocks- but I have a bit of trouble with Bakersfield, perhaps I havent listened as closely as I should. Is that DAs longest recorded Studio song @ 6:19?? - not including the montage of SA-Side 2..
anyone?.
Will try today (I'm at work- so its gotta be at "low crawl" volume.)
and to me- the title track isnt Punk..it jangles too much. (though what a great tune!)

OK, this may sound shallow and it is a very short answer to this thread, and you could probably say this about other albums.
The theme of Bibleland seems to be "doubt" with just a little "faith" thrown in, but don't look to me, "I'm just human".
I could probably expand on this later. |
I'll Burst Your Bubble! That thin membrane in lots of trouble!
