Fearful Symmetry , a Loss Of Balance

Anyone familiar with Deliverance founder Jimmy Brown's musical pilgrimmage knows how impactful Terry Scott Taylor and Eric Clayton have been. When the name of Jimmy's new band, Fearful Symmetry, also just happens to be the title of the final album in the
Alarma Chronicles, Daniel Amos' masterpiece
, something's going on here. As first evidenced on the 2002 indie release, This Sad Veil Of Tears, Jimmy moves further away from classic melodic metal, and further towards goth-electronica, and a vocal delivery reminiscent of both Terry and Eric. If you're an un-repentant metalhead pass this one up. If you have followed Jimmy on the pilgrimage from metal toward heavy electronica, you won't be disappointed. For fans of Saviour Machine, Mortal, Mad At the World, as well as Terry Taylor. Songs include: 'Intro (Don't Be Afraid),' 'Tension,' 'A Loss Of Balance,' 'Love My Way,' 'The Last Shred Of Decency,' 'Once Again,' 'Tikkun,' 'Offering,' 'I Won't Let You,' 'The Waters Of Alexandria,' and 'Don't Be Afraid (Reprise).' 11 songs

Did someone say Blake?

TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?

Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

And

"The lust of the goat is the bounty of God."

Granted, this is not one of his better known or more widely embraced quotes...

Hey Dorfman!

Do you have a favorite Blake quote? Mind you, that one above is not my favorite. The man is downright odd at times.

You can probably read everything Blake ever wrote on the internet, because he's been dead for more than 50 years nobody owns (or can own) the copyright.

Check out Bartleby for a good selection
http://www.bartleby.com/101/483.html

Acually, my favorite Blake is:

To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour

Fearful Summetry Reply to this Post Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Posts Report Post to a Moderator       Go to the top of this page

On a related topic...

I enjoyed the Fearful Symmetry music at their web site above, but couldn't get to the "purchase" pages to check everything out.

As for FEARFUL SYMMETRY...

The fourth Album of the Alarma Chronicles is one of my favorites, perhaps my very favorite DA album.

Has anybody noticed the common themes between Fearful Symmetry and TST's "Knowledge and Innocence" - I swear I could listen to both of those Albums over and over and over again! I wish I could get them on CD! (Actually I managed to find K&I on CD once, so I've got that... but I still NEED the full Alarma Chronicles on CD!)
