I was watching "Time2" with the great car(t)man and John Schiltz was on there singing a cool song, "Show Them"! Reminds me of when I used to listen to "Back to the Street"... Crying

I don't think so. Barnes & Noble, Sam Goody, and the others that charge full retail for CDs. Prices are $18.98 for CDs now. I went to B&N the other day looking for something, and I was shocked by the prices. I think the Christian marketplace is generally a dollar less than the general market. That's retail prices. What the discount stores actually sell the CDs for is another matter. The sale prices are usually created by the Record labels too. It's not generally the individual store that determines a sale price on new releases (although some of them do).

Personally, I'd've meant that Horrendous Disk was a year after some bad Steely Dan album (aka some Steely Dan album)....

...and that Scenic Routes was 22 years after Blind Faith (aka another supergroup that actually WORKED).... Tongue

Granted mainstream CCM is not worth listening to, but I would never define groups such as 77's, Bleach, Ballydowse, Chevelle, Cush, DA, Ghoti Hook, Justified, MxPx, POD, Pillar, Rez, Reliant K, The Blamed, The Choir, The Juliana Theory, & Zao as crap.

Of course I am speaking of my town. And here Christian bookstores are the highest. It is rare to find CD's priced above $15.99 in any music store here.

Sam Goody & Musicland as well as Barnes & Noble charge a boatload for their stuff.

I think we have a Musicland/Sam Goody in one of our malls, but I never go there, so I can't speak of the prices there. We have a huge Barnes & Noble but they only have one tiny rack with about 12 different CD's. I think they were $15.99.

I'm always looking at music stores. Wherever I go. I just can't help myself. Even the huge Virgin Megastore is expensive (17-19 bucks for a CD). Of course, they have specials of all the recent Top 40 crap which, IMHO, isn't too much different and certainly no better than the latest mainstream CCM crap you're always talking about. I think music from the Christian community has come a long way in the last 10 years. I don't think the general market or the Christian market is ever going to be dominated by really good bands. It's not what the mass general population wants. They want bland, feel-good, heavily produced, don't make me think about anything, popular (hense the word "pop") music.

Me either.

By the way Bird, I agree with you 100% People don't want to think. They want to hear "Baby baby of baby yeah" or something like that. I like to consider myself part of the resistance. My music is not that good but I love the scared looks on peoples faces when they hear it for the first time Big Grin

I always have so many ideas for songs and concepts but I'm not talented enough and don't have the right tools to accomplish it on a big scale. You cant blame me for trying though Big Grin

The mainstream wants a song like:

Baby, I love you
You mean so much to me
Baby, I love you
OOOoohh, I love you

Baby, I love you
Oh really can't you see
Baby, I love you
OOOoohh, I love you

It's nice to know the lyrics are appreciated. It took me months to find just the right words.
